Day 15 San Francisco day 2 (29th August 2015)

Today summed up : A prison, a tour, the bridge and a zillion calorie milkshake!

First stop of the day was Alcatraz. You have to book this months in advance to ensure a ticket. I booked the 10 am tour and typical the fog was in the bay! It had come in last night and was still hanging around though did lift as the day went on and we had another scorcher of a day.

The visit took a couple of hours and I would recommend it. I wasn't at all sure about visiting Alcatraz but it was a good trip.

After we got off the boat we decided to jump onto the hop-on hop-off bus (we had bought tickets yesterday which gave us use of the bus for 2 days as well as the night tour last night. Not bad for $55 each i think (SF is sooooo hilly walking everywhere is not a good idea!)

We stopped off at Union Square where we found a little Thai restaurant for lunch. Just what we needed as there are only so many fries and burgers you can eat before your body says 'NO MORE!!'

Afterwards we hopped on and did the rest of the tour as ind crossed over the Golden Gate bridge for the first time. It was still a wee bit foggy but it was great to get close to the bridge.

We decoded to go amd have a beer near Ghirardelli Square and then had to..yes we had to...pop in to get something involving chocolate. We ate watching the sun go down with a fabulous view of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz to appreciate!

Only 5 calories each (Jan Dustan you will appreciate that comment!!)

View of Alcatraz

Tomorrow....a winding road and Sausalito!!! (Well that is the plan!!)

PS And some pics Dominique took on the night tour last night!
